The symposium „Humanism in the 21st Century“ took place at the historic Spandau Citadel, one of the most significant and best-preserved fortresses of the High Renaissance in Europe. The citadel is located northeast of the old town of Spandau, on the opposite bank of the Havel River in the Berlin district of Haselhorst, and is a well-known landmark in the Spandau district. The citadel regularly hosts concerts, festivals, and other events, such as the annual Medieval Festival and the Citadel Music Festival, which has been held every year since 2005. This extraordinary setting provided an impressive backdrop for the symposium.

The symposium itself was organized under the patronage of Occident meets Orient e.V. in collaboration with akademie-forum-masonicum, becoming a significant platform for discussion about the current state and future of humanism.
